Vince - "the glue"?  You mean the yellow glue in the pocket of the middle section of the inside?

Added to "the list".

What I'd worry about is digital manipulation of the photo to make up a unique number, especially since what I'm tracking could aid somebody in perpetrating such a forgery.

Speaking of fakes ... if this Ideal For Living has "serrated vinyl" it sure doesn't look it from the (poor) photos ...

I can just about see the serrations, you're probably a little too hasty to call fake.

Also, that particular seller should well know the difference, though he does need some better pics.

Well, I'm not coming right out and saying it's a fake, just that with all the serrated vinyl records I have, they're pretty pronounced, it's awfully hard to take a photo of the label and not have them show up pretty obviously - or at least better than these photos do, you can barely make out that there's anything there.

Red vinyl + Sordide bag with Sordide logo == totally fake.

i went into further discussions with the seller, just for the sake of curiosity, and he now states that "it is not a bootleg, it is a re-pressing by the same label (...) mine is an original re-pressing".

i did not know that it was re-pressed...do you?

Seems anytime a new coloured vinyl pressing comes out the claim is that they are the latest release on the sly from Sordide Sentimental, cashing in on their one main gem. I find that very hard to believe...easier to believe someone else gets a few thousand pressed up and makes the covers on their kitchen table...

Medusa labels are fakes.  This Greek jerk keeps trying to claim they are legitimate when they aren't.

I paid US $20 for a Medusa copy many years ago when they first came out just because I thought it was so funny that whomever made them had the audacity to try and bootleg the original.

Even thou they are fakes, I like the artwork used for the Medusa copies; which of course was a painting done by the brilliant Italian artist "Caravaggio". He was a master of light and darkness. The Medusa painting was done between  1596 - 1598.

Another glaring difference is that the background image for the interior of the booklet is a completely different painting - the Medusa fake has an image of Christ with Mary and 2 people looking on, whereas the real one has 2 men looking up (in a sort of "Adoration Of The Magi" type setting).

I actually give the bootleggers credit for figuring out how to use a completely different background painting yet still match the opacity and color of the original!

(And yes, Caravaggio was amazing)

I have always wondered if they had access to the plates/films used for the original sleeve. It's all too close a match to be copied. Maybe the printers leaked them?

Slumpy: added #1333.
RiotNrrrd, where did you spot #1370?  Couldn't find it either on eBay or popsike.

It just sold on eBay as an auction 'teaser' for yesterday's Omega Auction that I mentioned in the other thread:

Thanks, didn't look hard enough.

Final price was
GBP 1,373.52

Wow!  That's 2x what I've seen this typically go for.
