Hi All

I Have No 370. Mint.
Bought it in Small Wonder Records from the owner Pete Stennett, who said "just give me your £3.50 - you will thank me in years to come" The shop was in Walthamstow E17 and was a mecca for us young punks at the time.

Cheers

John C has contacted me to say he has #642:

This message concerns the whereabouts of Sordide singles you have catalogued at this site.
I have #642 given to me by my friend Scott Piering at the Rough Trade shop at Portobello Rd. London
where he held the position of promoter(?). It’s in the labeled plastic bag and has all of the paraphernalia
included (none of which has faded, colored or come loose) it also came with the Sordide fold up advertising
b/w poster (pic of Genesis kissing Cosi, pic of Ian at mic, pic of nudie in tub!)
One more fer yer list.....
yep, johnC

All updated!  I subscribe to this thread but I guess I may be sending the notifications somewhere besides what I should be looking.

I know John C, too!  Great guy.

Scott Piering was the plugger than the JAMMs/Timelords/KLF guys used for their stuff, as prominent mentioned in their "Manual" (on how to have a Number One the "easy way"), which I won't link to for obvious reasons.

Email from John W:

In 1980, with much regret, still, I sold all of my extensive record collection. The only thing I held on to were my copies of Joy Division.

I have an original copy of the Sordide Sentimental Fractured Music number 639 ss 33002, if you are still keeping your list going.

I still have 184 of 1578, bought on or close to release at Rough Trade. Also got a handful of floppy 7" Incubation/Konokino from the counter at Rough Trade, though only 3 left as I gave the rest away to friends. Also have Ideal for Living EP. Good days...

Hello
I bought this one. Haven't received it yet as it has been sent from the US. Worked out as £668 I think. It's such a beautiful item I was pretty happy to pay that. Have been a massive JD fan for 20 years but only joined this website a couple of weeks ago. Been reading through the forums it's fascinating. Wish ihad joined years ago. My parents still live near Macclesfield. I went to the JD screening in Macc in August 2010. So annoying about the power cut. Anyone know if that footage is likely to ever be released?
Also how highly regarded is the Kevin cummins book juvenes with JD collectors?
I bought a brand new unopened copy recently, it is really beautiful, very clean, minimal design.

@BGW - Heartiest congrats on the old SS 7"; you got yourself a right bargain there, I think. Regarding that film footage, I believe we have a long wait ahead before there's an official release. Still no sign of a DVD reissue of 'Here Are The Young Men' because, so I hear, the owner of the Eindhoven Super-8 reels is demanding a monstrous fee and, copyright issues aside, with Hooky and Bernard still at loggerheads it seems unlikely they'll agree to anything of this nature in the forseeable. A bloody shame. Plan K, the complete Manchester Apollo, 'A Factory Flick'...I won't go so far as to say it's cultural vandalism, keeping this priceless footage under lock and key, but it certainly comes close.

350125 - "I won't go so far as to say it's cultural vandalism, keeping this priceless footage under lock and key, but it certainly comes close." - Agreed! Any footage of Joy Division is interesting, but unfortunately, it doesn't seem like anyone's going to see it anytime soon...

350125- I'm afraid you are probably right, the footage won't be available any time soon. A real shame. I remember seeing the footage in rehearsal studio and the S.L.C performance for the first time on the JD documentary, it was pretty amazing. Does anyone else find they can memorise pretty much every single photo of JD/IC they have ever seen? Occasionally I come across a photo that I don't recognise and I can be positive I have never seen it before. For example there is one in a French JD book with a photo of the band by a pool table I've definitely not seen anywhere else.

I'll try to post the photo later. It's a very dark shot but definitely has a pool or snooker table.
Actually I remember a hooky interview a few years back in which he said his house has a snooker room with framed photos of Ian.

I haven't seen the photo BGW refers to but I'm sure that, like all us rough Northern lads, they liked a knockabout on the old green baize. I do recall the beginning of that disastrous interview with Dave McCullough of Sounds, when he dropped in on JD at Strawberry Studios while the band were enjoying a game of the very same and "It was lead singer Ian Curtis who brought the pool to a close". McCullough had Paul Slattery with him who certainly took a lot of photographs that day, so maybe that's where BGW's shot originates?
