Hi everyone, being new here i thought i'd post some stories, ect, i had to tell!
Well one of the teachers at my old school ( quite old, but was actually famous..he was a music teacher) said he saw joy division a couple of times when i had a convo with him about them, one of them being 'a few weeks before ian curtis died'...he also said he taped the show as a bootleg, and likes to listen to it frequaently...this was a long time ago i asked him so i can't remember much else he told me about the show, apart from the fact that they were 'bloody awful', curtis was singing badly, and the band were all out of time with each other ect, and i thought he proberly wasn't lying as this would have been typical for their shows around that time. He might have said that ian had an epilectic fit as well, but i can't remember that bit! I'm actually trying to find out what gig this might have been he was at, it may have been the last actual one they played, although i think he said it was in London, so i can't really be that one. It could be the moonlight club one of those, or a show around that time....from the info i have does anyone know what show they think it most proberly was he went to? Well, just interested thanks...oh yes in an interview in a magazine i have with Paul Heaton of band the beautiful south, he say's he saw joy division..here is the full quote:
' Maybe when i was a lot younger, i would have bought into the myth of the suffering artist. I saw Joy Division play just before Ian Curtis died. He was fantastically intense. Maybe it was Curtis who showed me that its a dangerous myth to buy into, because if you follow it through, you can end up dying for your art.'
well, what gig do you think it could have been he was at?
thanks, for reading anyway,
