Check out my ebay sale of original 7" Sordide Sentimental single, number 001226 that I bought in East Croydon 1979.  Very good condition with translation and advertisements.

Joe, I'd suggest for legitimacy's sake that you add closeup images of both the 1226 number and the actual record itself, showing the serrated edges of the label.   Otherwise there's very little to distinguish it from a well-made boot from a distance.

Cheers.

many thanks for the advice. i appreciate the need to be wary. I will also 'throw in' a colour flyer (original) for JD at the electric Ballroom.

Sure you bought it in 1979? I didn't think it was released until March 1980

Erik, when you're our age, you forget precise details

For example.  I lived in Pasadena, California until the start of 1980.  A well-known record store, Poo Bah Records, was up the road from me and it still exists today (albeit in a different location, they moved a couple of years ago - gutted!).

At the beginning of 1980 I was in the process of moving from Pasadena down to the ocean in Costa Mesa/Newport Beach.  By March of 1980 I would swear on a Bible that I had been fully moved out and out of Pasadena.

Yet I will never forget this as long as I live - I recall clearly going in to Poo Bah one day, and right next to the door they had a singles box and a New Releases bin.  There sat SS33022.  I even remember the sticker price - US $4.58!

I was skint at the time and had no money on me (I often went to the store just to see what was new, even if I was broke) and, laughably, tried to hide it(!) by turning it on its side at the back

You can guess the rest - I went back to retrieve it a day or two later, and of course it was gone ...

But this story makes no sense given the timeline - there would have been no reason for me to still be in Pasadena by March or April 1980.  To this day I can't reconcile this memory with my living situation at the time.  As I said, when you're our age, you forget precise details

nice item - but you grade it very good and on ebay excellent AND very good - this is huge spread for collectors! VG/VG = 300 GBP (because the inserts) or less and EX/EX is 500 GBP or even more

NM or M-
(NEAR MINT or MINT MINUS)
This is highest grade that I will assign to opened, handled records. The vinyl is virtually flawless, bright and shiny. A very minor, barely visible scuff or two may be permitted, but no scratches. The disc should play with no audible noise. The label is bright, clean and unmarked.
E or VG++
(EXCELLENT or VERY GOOD ++)
Disc plays near perfectly, but may have minor paper scuffs that do not interfere with the sound quality. There can possibly be a hairline scratch or two but nothing that is obvious or affects play. Vinyl is bright and shiny; label is clean and unmarked.
VG+
(VERY GOOD PLUS)
Some visible surface wear, very minor scratches and scuffs, but minimal impact on the sound quality. Vinyl will still have good luster; labels may have minor imperfections (small labels or initials, etc.) but otherwise clean.
VG
(VERY GOOD)
Vinyl will have noticeable scratches or scuffs that cause minor surface noise, but do not overpower the music. There will be no skips. Vinyl may appear somewhat dull and grayish. Labels may have small tears, tape marks, larger writing, etc. but still easily legible. There may be wear or deformation of the spindle hole.

Congratulations to Joe.  Didn't quite make his £600 target but not far off!

Unfortunately the Pounds Sterling <-> Dollars exchange rate is too poor for this Yank to have joined in the bidding fracas.  Congratulations to the high bidder
