I know it's not a competition but Bernard Sumner is a vastly superior writer than Peter Hook. Hooky's work is fascinating and entertaining but reads a bit like a teenager's diary packed with detailed minutiae but Bernard has clearly taken his time to gather his thoughts before committing them to paper and the results are impressive. I couldn't imagine Hooky using the word 'peripatetic' as Bernard does. Anyway, I'm only 100 pages in. Plenty more to look forward to.

Not sure I'd agree. Bernard seems to be rambling just as much as Hooky, but he has pretentions to make it less colloquial.

What really lets Chapter & Verse down is that it seems to have been ignored by the Random House/Bantam editors. The amount of times the same sentence gets repeated is crazy. Basic editing is completely absent
