the cover is very nice indeed and the fact that Faber publish it is another guarantee of seriousness...Faber was the publishing house of TS Eliot!

I'm really excited for this! It'll be neat just to see all of the handwritten lyrics. I'm a lyrics nerd, and Ian is just one of the best writers. You know, I was talking with someone the other day and it's really amazing that he wrote so many amazing lyrics by the age of 23. Most of his songs could have just been published as a book of poetry and I'm sure girls the world round on Tumblr would still be in love with him. Truly gifted with words, and I'm always a sucker for that.

Was this noted before? Sorry if it was but I just noticed the book is to include " an appendix featuring books from Curtis's library and a
selection of fanzine interviews, letters, and other ephemera from his estate."

A selection. Oh I like that bit. Who's selecting what from whom, when where and why. Intrigue abounds. Minds boggle. "Politiks"
Any guesses on ephemera? Ticket to Sex Pistols? Bowie? Empty Marlboro pack? ;-)
"Letters" -from whom to whom? Sent? Received? Juicy? Mundane? umm ummm hmmmm.....

Very nice but £200 is expensive. I mean, how will we know for sure that Debbie Curtis' signature is genuine?

I mean, this is like the antithesis of the whole punk theme. Or scheme is more apropos. For $200 at least give me the companion book: " The Complete and Utter Merchandising and Marketing Manual of Iconic Imagic Irony"

Quoted from the Faber Social site:

"The songs of Joy Division were born of Manchester in the late seventies and of Ian Curtis’s inner tragedies, as he battled depression, epilepsy and debilitating stage fright"

Did Ian Curtis really suffer from debilitating stage fright?  I do not recall reading or hearing mention of that before.

I'm afraid I can't believe the limited edition has sold out. The link actually brings up a 404 not found message. It would have been easier to just have the page listing "sold out". Nah - it certainly raised a few eyebrows when it claimed that ALL the surviving members of Joy Division would be signing the book. I would be more than surprised if hostilities had been relaxed - IMHO someone at the publishing house has presumed they would all be in agreement behind this venture.

I hope I'm wrong but my gut feeling is that the limited edition has been pulled.

I had been procrastinating last few days over whether to shell out for the limited edition.
Faber now saying sold out. I think i am more persuaded by Lee 'pulled' theory whatever Faber
are stating online. Decision made for me, standard hardback for me then [smile]

Well, shucks, I never knew Ian was bipolar til Jon Wozencroft let slip in the Grant Gee film. I'm sure there's more-all the available experts have not yet weighed in.

A mate of mine purchased one. But he is the only one i know of. I emailed Faber for further information.
I did say to my mate not to be surprised if other similar limited editions are made available..

Peter Hook has responded to the creation of an official Joy Division Twitter account made without his permission.

The band's bass player appeared to learn about the account after seeing a tweet from the official New Order account, to which he replied and stated that "it would have been nice to have been informed" about its creation.

Hook left New Order seven years ago with relations between himself and frontman Bernard Sumner remaining distant.

The Joy Division account has been created to coincide with the release of So This Is Permanence, a collection of Ian Curtis' diaries and notebooks. The book is due for release on October 16 and features a foreword by Curtis' widow, Deborah Curtis.

It would be so nice to have those two sit down and straighten out their bloody differences.
They're behaving like a couple who've been through a particularly nasty divorce, always making pokes & doing things to antagonize one another. They were - are - the world's greatest band. Such a shame. Sort it! You only live down the road from each other. A pint and a f****** pie at least.

The same people who run the New Order page.

The management.
