Just wait 'til the next horrible cd or vinyl travesty appears. It's like planespotting, or better yet, spotting stupid pigeons shitting on the statues of heroes.

I remember the 3rd disc. Time to time, I see it being sold separately on ebay. But I think that it's another useless compilation.

Possibly meant as a joke as Granada is also the name of a Spanish city?

Hi,

i think your last remark was sarcastic right ? [rolleyes]

The guy that is flooding Ebay with "limited edition to 10/25/50/66 copies" of single/maxi picture bootleg picture discs selling them 50 euros each is well known for years, and is only playing on compulsive buying collectors... The content could be blank, this would be the same actually.

See You

This is sad as a Yung Lean record.

The insert of the 2006 white vinyl "AIFL" has been re-printed!
It comes with a nice, useless color vinyl of "LWTUA" (grey, lilac, whatever), especially aimed at collectors of the much-loathed Cleopatra issues.
Have fun!

Laughing hard now. Anyone desperate enough for this?

An old 7" bootleg of AIFL, with an asking price not far from the price of an original Anonymous 12".

I still like my JD bootlegs particularly the " original" ones . On e bay they seem to go for quite a lot eg Die Kalten Winde des Winters £165.56 -seller mac_moerk.. The isolation splatter one is not one you see that often either. Which ones would really dig into the piggy bank to buy?

Not all bootlegs are bad of course. But over the last few years some truly horrible releases emerged. A pic disc of Still, or an LP with the gig from Stil, or even a 10" with tracks from the HATYM video. Stuff that doesn't add anything to anyone's collection.

The Cologne 2LP obviously doesn't belong in that category, and while not being the best sounding recording around, it's still more interesting than yet another poorly executed and incomplete version of the Amsterdam gig (which has seen even more versions recently).

Not sure about the Isolation splatter. Is that the reissue of Malvern/Eric's? Then, given the fact that it's an 80s boot, when standards were different, it's neither in the same F-league as today's rubbish. (I'd still prefer an original blue Malvern/Eric's though).

Can't stand the pirates or counterfeits of legitimate releases but the early wave of Joy Division bootlegs gave fans previously unheard concert material - or at least better quality than the bootleg cassettes we'd heard. Well, in many cases anyway. Nowadays it seems that the bootlegs are cynical reissues designed to fuel the collectors market. However, if I was new to the band and didn't have lots of money for a second hand 'old master' then I guess I'd like one of the recent LPs.

For my favourite, bootleg I think there's little point in chosing the one with the best sound quality as most of the source recordings are available for free on the web anyway. So I'd chose the Testament 2LP as it's a beautiful item and someone put a lot of effort into designing the packaging. The image on http://joydiv.org/T1.htm really doesn't do it justice.

Does anyone else remember how difficult the Shadowplay CD was to get hold of during the initial flurry of bootleg CDs? The new fangled Compact Disc really opened up the bootleg market and there were loads of CDs readily available - and yet Shadowplay, which was pressed in the same numbers as all of the others, was especially hard to track down. Weird.

For my most nostalgic bootleg it's the Komackino LP. I was in a small record shop browsing their 'rarities' rack which was only just starting to feature punk bootlegs amongst all the old prog rock and rock stuff and suddenly there was this Joy Division bootleg in a classic cover! Seriously unbelievable at the time because the bootleggers only did the massive old acts with huge followings. It was a notoriously old fashioned industry's still pushing out LPs by all the old farts that punk and new wave had swept aside. And yet, here was proof positive that my favourite fairly obscure post punk group was being backed to the hilt by the bootleggers themselves. An industry based on old cash cows was actually looking forward and making a punt on the future...

... of course Joy Division are now one of the classic old acts that the 'notoriously old fashioned bootleg industry' is still pushing out. Not old farts though, obviously [smile]

And here's some 'new' bwahaha for you: 2 tracks from the Warsaw album on a 7".
Utterly useless, yet still some are willing to fork out their money for it.
After all, it has blue vinyl and a 'limited edition' claim on the sleeve.
Always works, doesn't it?

That is not a new record but a boot 7" that was issued in 89 according to this webpage at least.

I am allways surprized at the vicious comments concerning boots within this forum.

Relax people, everybody has a free mind (at least i hope) and can easyly see what is a boot and what not and then decide if they want to spend money on it.
Do not forget the fun that record collecting may give people.

Some boots can be really good, but a lot of them can be downright horrible. Of course everyone should decide for themselves what to spend (or waste) their money on. But there's no harm in a bit of scorn toward those who produce boots without love for the group.

Frankly speaking, I didn't realise this one was as old as from '89. I thought it was another of those recent and awful 7"s discussed earlier in this thread (is it in the boot section of joy div org?) . But regardless, even as long ago as '89 the tracks on this little record were already common as muck, making the motives of the manufacturer dubious at least.
