I've just spotted this:http://www.ebay.it/itm/Cassette-K7-Tape-Joy-Division-Live-Bowdon-Altringham-14-3-79-Curtis-Hannett-/152705903371? I've asked the seller for the tracklist, let's see the reply. What do you think about the tape? Also, which interviews could be recorded there?

The seller of that tape is having a laugh with his asking price for starters .... Details on the gig - the recordings of which is can be found on well known file sharing sites - are here : http://www.joydiv.org/c140379.htm A few tracks from that gig were filmed on Super8, and can be found on YouTube The interview is most likely the Radio One 'Rock On' interview from Sept 79, details here :http://www.joydiv.org/jdinterviews.htm

How about just making your own tape from the "Torn Apart" LP, or the "Youth Club" release. Or just connect a tape recorder to a smart TV with access to youtube. There's your tape!
(And if you keep the record level really low, it will probably be a close match with the tape hiss found on the old tape on ebay!)

I am always surprised on the cynical replies people leave here in the forum around stuff others find noticible and ask for information or a valuation. Even people in their late 50s or beyond, people that have lived in a time when not everything was ready available on the net. So this is a tape, and it is terribly overprized, but still this is a genuine part of the collectable JD-World we are all writing about. As far as i know this tape and others like it (all have these brown cover with the technical writing) were done by a german in Hamburg in the first half of the 80s. i have a NO tape live 82 from that serie and i bought it in a record shop more than 30 years ago. Accusing the seller he made a new tape with the sound from youtupe is plain rubbish. It is obviously much too expensive, but it IS a genuine artefact of JD parafernalia. I would buy it instandly buy it, if it was 30 - 40 euros

Sir, I did not accuse the seller explicitely. Those are your words. All I was saying was that one might as well make their own cassette based on other sources available. Let's face it: This recording is no longer rare.
I think it's exemplary of cynicism to sell something at an exceedingly high price, merely because of a certain sound carrier and its age.
But: I would buy it instandly buy it, if it was 30 years ago. For 5£. It's a tape dub after all.

FYI - I think its worth advising for the uninitiated that these tapes were created at home by fans ... with the sleeves typically handmade and photocopied They were NOT an official or semi-official release by the band or label ... so IMO, dont go and pay a crazy price thinking that that is what you are getting for your hard earned money I used to do exactly the same back in the mid '80's ...selling copied tapes with home made sleeves via adverts in the NME for £4- £5 a go ... and probably increased sales of Letraset (google it) and coloured heavy stock A4 paper at the local WHSmiths by ten fold lol Its also worth bearing in mind that, given the advances in technology and home recording/mixing software, alot of these home produced live tapes from the mid 80's may actually sound worse than current recordings of the same gigs that are available now
