Restaurations of valuable covers/sleeves are very interesting and make sense.
Gradings up from VG to VG++(EX) or VG+ to NM... make the difference in prices.
It's learning by doing but it works...it's artwork!

This is an interesting question. For many collectibles and antiques the advice is not to try and clean them.

I would worry is that even if you clean the smudge or dirt off part of the sleeve successfully you will end up with that bit being noticeably cleaner than the rest of the cover.

I’d definitely be interested if anyone knows how this can be done

I went through umpteen vids and all clean old mass produced laminated sleeves.jd have a special taste in materials used which make them so special collectible but a bummer to keep mint.
