This evening's screening was a different kettle of fish to Thursday's preview in Soho. Bigger screen, better keyline of the film (at the Curzon Soho last week the titles and credits were wonky!). The Q&A didn't deliver any great deviations, but at least the questioner wasn't as indulgent as the Time Out guy last week and let the audience in early on. Usual question about Debbie's (non)-involvement, accurately handled by Grant who said she had agreed initially, but after the Control experience changed her mind. Peter Saville talked about the JD story as being along the lines of a Shakespearean tragedy, which might be pushing it a bit, but also said that the film was first mooted 10 years ago with the title "Love Will Tear Us Apart". It was quite a brief Q&A because the screening was delayed and there was an after show party to get to.

Grant talked about the problems involved in getting to the source of the original footage used (read Plan K etc.), and how much money it cost to get proper clearance. Alongside Jon Savage's comment last week, for all those hoping for an early resolution to these outstanding items, I'd give it a year or two.

Just to add - the DVD won't be out for a while yet (unless you're from Norway) so go see the film...
