Subsequent to setting up the BT Cloud folder, I have been both surprised and very gratified by the enthusiastic responses I have had - there are clearly many more Joy Division afficionados out there than merely those of us old enough to have been alive all those years ago. And so the legacy continues. One of the very pleasant consequences of the correspondences that have been established has been the fact that several people (with far greater knowledge and experience of audio than I have) have sent me copies of some of the tapes in reworked form. One such is bert13, who has been very complimentary about some of my own personal recordings of New Order, but also has noted that several of the Joy Division recordings (sadly none of which was personally recorded) are of particular interest. And Bert has been good enough to send me, in addition to some re-mastered copies of the tapes I have uploaded, some other gigs which are new to me.

Now, I am a relative newcomer to the JDC fan world, and I do not wish to tread on anybody's toes, so if anyone has an issue with anything I am doing, then please get in touch. But I remember what it used to be like in the early 80s: trawling through the NME small ads, sending off stamped addressed envelopes to fellow bootleg tape enthusiasts, poring over the lists that came back, and eventually arranging a trade or purchase of some long-sought after gem. Nowadays, you can find almost everything on the internet - much of it, to be honest, unwelcome crap - but the wealth of music and history is unprecedented. And Bert has agreed that I may upload the gigs, that he has sent to me, onto the BT Cloud folder. So you will now find a new folder called Bert13, which contains the files that have so far been sent to me from Bert, and into which I will place any future files from Bert.

So now let me extend the same invitation. If anyone reading this post has copies of any Joy Division or New Order gigs, particularly those which are not already there, then please feel free to send them to me. I will set up separate folders for everyone who gets involved, so you can include biographical information about yourself if you wish. I think that the only proviso will be that this is not being done for monetary gain, so if you think I am missing an obvious problem, again feel free to intervene.

Which brings me on to perspex's post about New Order radio interviews. If any of 'you out there' have copies of old interviews, get in touch with perspex, or send them to me and I will include them in the BT Cloud folder.

As of the time of writing (13.33 GMT) the latest uploads should be finished by 14.00. The sun is shining, and apart from the insanity of World War 3 against the insidious and invisible Corona Virus (I'm safe, because I never drink Mexican lager) all seems well in the world. So, as Sgt. Phil Esterhaus used to say after rollcall in 'Hill Street Blues': 'Let's be careful out there'.

Thanks an awful lot - sorry I don't have anything to share that isn't already out there.

Hi dmxi, Hi Appick,

Thanks for your encouragement, and as ever, I am very glad to do what I can. And don't worry about having nothing new, Appick, you never know what you may stumble across that nobody yet knows exists. Just enjoy what we have.

Bert13 has just messaged me about some more of his re-works, so I'll get them sorted and uploaded later this evening.

These tapes are not new, it's been a while since I've seen an uncirculated tape turn up, that is, until benno shared his old tapes here.  The Guildford tape I downloaded from a public tracker back in 2009.

Maybe this will get people to share some of their old tapes as well, who knows what they still might have stacked away on the attic gathering dust. [cool]
