Looks genuine enough, though I would suspect that it IS actually an acetate, despite what he says. The actual pressing had both tracks on one side, plus you can see that the labels haven't been pressed into the record, also there's no serrated edge (as you would see on the vinyl from the same pressing plant at the time).

An item such as this makes me wonder about the history of ownership. Who was the person to own this first? Tony Wilson? Martin Hannett?
Seems a nice thing for the Ian Curtis museum I guess.

yes, it's strange that they did a test pressing with only JD songs and one on each side... the sound is necessarily different as there's less compression (less grooves), so it wouldn't be effective as a test pressing sample. who knows, Factory records is not characterized for keeping a very logical structure on the releases, maybe it was just a test (yes, maybe an acetate too). an interesting item in any case!

I can't say I favour the current way that sellers on eBay put things up for auction, then start the bidding at an eye-watering price. Just do a buy-it-now.
