If any of the record companies sale pitchers may read this & who love re-vamping official releases, here is an idea to contemplate...for rsd or anniversaries:
The cassette box sets were a delight in design in 1986,really beautiful made and were very alluring to any fan, even if they had most known material but those sets are a testament to the bands legacy!
K.cummins boxed postcard sets seemed even like an homage to those releases.
As they have risen in price and collect ability i would be a nice touch if they could do a reissue but with different color schemes, like UP being black with white lettering (the inlays reversed from original white/black to black on white card),closer being white with black lettering and the inlay maybe just a pure negative from the og?still should resemble the Hessian version, grey with embossed white lettering and leaving the inlay card as it is/was?
The box materials should be the same as the originals but i wouldn't mind the tapes, labels and inlay-tray had different coloration as long it fits the design all around.
Hope others here would also love to something like that being contemplated.its more exciting than getting the umpteenth same old remasters,me thinks!
Thanks for reading and hope some may join in...best wishes......

Just a reminder how they look like and for those who are not familiar with that release:

Those original boxed Factory tapes from the mid-'80s certainly look really good, and they are very nice items for many collectors. It's a shame that most of the used copies in decent condition that turn up for sale are so expensive. I could be wrong, but I'd be very surprised if anyone today would consider reissuing anything on such an archaic format as cassette tapes, no matter how attractively packaged they are. Nice thought, though!

If you check discogs, popsikes and have an eye on ebay sales, tapes are increasing in value and collectibility.i paid £30 for a sealed '85 uk fact10c first issue and 45€ for the mint boxed version.there are few sealed left,1-2 i believe, and the price has trebled.used standard uk closer tapes are going for £25 or more.i nearly bought the full peel sessions tape which starts £20 + £9 postage.....but i'll get that one soon.the 1995 lwtua single tape sealed went ca £30,so there is a growing market and i believe a limited re-run of jds boxed issues would sell out quickly.if they do so,i hope they would release them one at a time so i would be able afford them....one at a time and no nonsense £180 collector box-sets;i hate those fookers!

Really hard to find and obviously worth hard dough....just imagine if they would've pulled through with UP,CLOSER & STILL as planned, love the exotic releases:

And i really love this (useless[wink]) pirate limited to ten copies (viva la mexico):

8-track,wouldn't be bewildered if US companies had promos made or at least contemplated doing so?
But still, would be a nice thing to shove into the collection, right next to the tapes.

They actually look more like replicas of a santioned product than being cobbled in some basment, imho?

Certain demo tapes (mostly black metal, punk or bands with a certain mystique) are being re-released over the last couple of years.hip-hop is another genre that is rediscovering mcs/tapes as collector items.
So,keep a look out,if you are serious collector.....good will hunting!

Regarding the "Substance" DAT, I had no idea it was selling for so much money now. Guess I shouldn't be surprised as it was a very short-lived format and produced in limited quantities. I didn't have a DAT player, but being a collector I bought it anyway.

I wonder why Factory never released "Atmosphere" on CDV in '88? There's a "True Faith" (Facdv 183) and "Blue Monday 1988" (Facdv 73R) CD Video, and there must have been plans to release "Atmosphere" in this format too as it was listed as forthcoming on some mail order lists around that time, but for some reason it never happened.

Here is what i mean with tapes coming back.a couple of years back you would've gotten a tenner,£20 max. but collectors are rediscovering these old testaments of a culture, long dead.
Btw,@erik,would you sell your dat tape of substance?

Note the current price, started with £30 and still 4 days to go.

Only if I really needed the money, I bought it new in 1988 and I'd be a bit sad to see it go.

A wall of legacy, where do you store that?what does your wife say?....but more important, show us your jd tapes!!!!now that would be interesting.
On a side note, your substance dat tape alone, would fetch as much as that bootleg tape sale!!!!!

But honestly,i can only stress collectors to keep their "stuff",except you are in dire need of cash now and don't sell ad hoc,put some thought in presentation and outlay with pics and info.it makes a huge difference.just wait if you can, prices won't decline but rise....just a thought.

You have a point, and as these tapes have been part of my JD/NO collection for so many years I would probably regret letting them go. I have a separate room for all my JD/music stuff, the wife's always been understanding as she's into the band(s) too.
I'll see about a pic of my JD tapes.
