Are these really Ian's words?

I'm sure I read somewhere that this is Bernard's handwriting.

Don't think they are Ian's as new order looked through all his lyric books to try to work out lyrics when recording ceremony.
I'm sure they would have been in the recent book if they were

I believe lee provided the correct answer to your question.

Besides which, after seeing lots and lots of examples of Ian's handwriting in "So This Is Permanence" it's obvious Ian didn't pen those lyrics.

I have not read So This is Permanence, so I wondered if Ian's lyrics for the song finally surfaced.

Ian's lyrics for Ceremony are not in that book.
You really need one-I'll tell Santa Claus to leave a copy in your stocking :-)

The fact that it bears little resemblance to either of the versions we have with Ian singing the words is good enough for me. This is New Order's attempt at deciphering Ian's lyrics. And failing.

Read in So This is Permanence that there's no Ian's handwriting of Ceremony and In a Lonely Place. Not sure but it was Debbie who said that after New Order asked her.

Sumner and Hook didn't have any written lyrics by Ian for Ceremony and IALP. They listened to the rehearsal tapes and tried to figure out, what Ian was singing.
They got most of it wrong. And this handwritten piece is exactly what Sumner sings in New Orders version of ceremony.
I would give a lot for the original lyrics. I know there is a long thread about the lyrics here but I'm still not satisfied.

What if Ian never wrote them down? Did he write all his lyrics down?

The lyrics look right, but I agree: Not Ian's handwriting, nor Peter's. I've not seen any examples of Bernard's or Steve's.

The lyrics are not right. Did you ever listen to Ian's versions of Ceremony?
