They are on Lot 8 as I type this (11:40 AM BST I think?) and the first JD-related item is Lot 74 ... so it may start in on the JD stuff within the next half-hour to an hour or so ...

The signatures have been verified, and this item comes with a receipt from the previous owner as well as a personal letter of authentication from Peter Hook himself .... Hmmm ...... what did Hooky confess to recently ,,,, I believe this is his work

So you think Hooky put his own copy into the auction and forged all the signatures?  lolol

this auction house, omega auctions, really scammed me. I won a vinyl lot, which purported to have a new order test pressing included. upon looking over the vinyl, the groove notations seemed odd and quite different from the commercial release -- in fact, nothing matched. i played the record and it turned out to be a non-new order single. some awful song - other side had similarly awful music.

now the auction house hasn't responded to my emails asking them to assist me in resolving this issue (they were quick to charge my card, and they did not accept paypal as a payment form) - the lot was pretty much purchased for the test pressing. as i'm in the states and the auctioneers are in the uk, i'm not sure how to proceed...any advice?

So is hoover's opinion the general consensus, i.e. that Omega Auctions are shady?

New Omega auction on the 25th, there's a copy of "An Ideal For Living" up ...

I doubt they're shady, in the case of that New Order test pressing they probably just don't know much about it in the first place. However, they really should deal with his complaint in a more professional manner.

Have you seen the photos they have on sale soon, some JD ones I don't think I've seen before. The sale is on the 25th Feb.

as a follow-up, i was able to obtain a partial refund (approximately one-fourth of the cost of the lot - before shipping), they accepted return of the entire lot, but i would have had to pay for courier delivery -- so I chose the small refund as it seemed to be the lesser of two unappealing options.

Essentially, they claim no responsibility for the auction items, so its a buyer beware situation. the condition/grading seemed accurate, but if you're looking at a white label or looking at something that may require authentification, be sure to inquire about groove etchings/photos/etc.

I'll be going too, so many unusual foreign pressings! I've bought from them before and I agree the gradings have been consistent, and they've always been really helpful when I've asked further questions.

I was on my way to Stockport for the auction when the fickin bus broke down in Burnage !!  So i gave up and got a train to Buxton.

And just to rub a touch of salt into the wound,I see some of the Joy Division lots that I was going to bid on went for only £60 !
£60 for four Old Bootleg Lps !!!!! ,
Each one would fetch £50 on fleabay.Dead Souls and Black Souls maybe more.
