Just an idle thought...for thirty years or so I've been unable to listen to 'Isolation' without an image of the Bates' house from 'Psycho' popping into my head. Ian's lyrics have always seemed such a good fit for the isolated existence of Norman Bates in Hithcock's classic film.

Norman's bizarre relationship with the corpse of his mother and the absorption of her personality; his shame at the things he is doing/she is making him do; the 'pleasures and wayward distractions' of his taxidermy and peeping on/murder of the female guests...

I'm always wary of attaching too much significance to other people's lyrics, but it works for me [smile]
