Good things are coming very soon regarding the handful of shows JD played in my home county, and a bit more besides....got a little extra research to complete plus I'm in the middle of moving house, so expect a post within the next fortnight or so.

I wish! Actually there was a recent radio appeal on a local station for that bloke to come forward, but he never did. Basically the post will have new photos of (almost) all the venues they played round here plus some background info - I thought Marko may like to use some of it to update the concert guide as there isn't much we know about JD's Yorkshire gigs. I'm also investigating the ancient rumour of an undocumented Warsaw concert in Leeds - still got people to speak to about that one; don't get too excited as I haven't uncovered anything concrete so far, though no-one can say I ain't trying. My feet are killing me and the missus says I'm wasting my time. Let's see...

Some of you may be a little cheesed off by the non-appearance of my promised piece on JD's Yorkshire gigs and for that, I apologize. A lot of photographs & information were lost when our laptop became infected - I took the precaution of emailing it to myself first then got locked out of my address as a result of the same fucking virus; like a complete buffoon I didn't save anything on a stick. Lessons learned, to be sure. Anyway, apart from some hand-written stuff (yeah, I still do that. The net is wonderful in many ways but you can't get locked out of a notebook) I've had to start from scratch - nearly done, and the silver lining is that whilst re-researching the Roots Club in Chapeltown I was introduced to a very nice lady who actually saw JD & Durutti Column there in July 1978, so I'll be including her memories too. Thanks for your patience, each and every one of you.

Folks, the article is finished, at last. Lots of groovy new info and some fresh mysteries to solve too. Maybe you chaps can help me with that. All I need to do now is take a few final photographs; a couple of venues have been a real pain in the jacksy to find but think I've got every one of 'em pinned down now.

I promised way back in June there'd be a post within a fortnight but it didn't quite work out that way; amongst other issues a lot of people had great stories to tell and separating fact from faeces proved to be irritatingly time-consuming - but I believe we've got to the truth in most cases.

So, I'm hitting the road next week with the old Box Brownie; soon as that's done Marko will receive the entire package and hopefully create a new page for you all.

Supplied our PA and engineered the Royal Standard gig in Bradford with them (and 'Emergency' without) if that's of any use (it'd be fantastic to read what you have on the JD 'Standard gig) worked at the Futurama gig also, not quite sure what I did - it's been awhile but I recall being very active - probably changing backlines etc, also selling posters seems to ring a bell for some reason.

@CPL : Didn't turn up much about the Standard gig other than sleazy background info on the venue - I used to go there in the early 1980s. Are you from Leeds/Bradford, old boy? Please PM me with any recollections! I do know one bloke who was there on the night, but I can't use him due to his nasty political leanings.

From Manchester, knew JD very well, don't recall any nasties at these gigs, the curios perhaps, there wasn't any trouble (we, Emergency / Foreign Press actually played The Standard twice I now recall) the only gig we turned down for it's political leanings was Liverpools Swinging whatsit, although I believe JD did play there,  not for any political reasons, it was a paying gig (if you were lucky) Rob was spreading his net wide.

I'm a question/answer kind of chap, if you have anything - and providing I can remember - then I'll give it my best shot

cheers , Colin

(Yes, the JD RS gig was taped through the desk - that's always a burning question)

@CPL: Blast it, just when I thought I'd finished! All sounds very intriguing, especially as I remember the Standard as a right rough-house - but that was in the 80s and I know it went downhill in its later years. Could you PM me your email address please?

Well, thought I was done with this but NOW someone just told me yesterday the Huddersfield Coach House show didn't happen there - it was at a West Indian club called Cleopatra's a couple of streets away. I'm a local but afraid this has me foxed. Can anyone on JD Central help by way of confirmation? My source seemed genuine & specific, and not even a JD fan so not much reason to lie...is there? If you can help in any way please PM me. THANKS.

Just sent the article to Marko & Erik. It's a bit weighty, 7 months in the making, so it may be some time before they slap it on here - whatever, as & when, enjoy, all of ya.

@RiotNrrd: I'm following up some new info on the long-lost Revolution Club in York, and Marko is sorting out copyright issues with a few photographs we want to use. Shouldn't be long now.
