Joy Division launch first ever official website

joydivisionofficial.com was announced June 25 on the band's Facebook page. The website features a news section, an extensive band biography, a discography, a photo gallery and a "listen" section. At present, the "listen" section allows fans to experience a classic Joy Division album set to photographs by Charlie Meecham, the artist whose work was used on the cover of the band's 1980 single 'Atmosphere'.

Interestingly, this was also loaded to YouTube on the same day:

It's the Castle Pub interview but the video in the background includes footage from Plan K - Shadowplay and Twenty Four Hours, if my memory serves me correctly! Quality looks fairly good too. Is the bit at the start from the Apollo?

Yeah, here is unseen previously Plan K footage and known Bowdon Vale footage but it's came not from "Substance" VHS - it's lower gen... think it's from "Hooky's basement".

Maybe the first sings for a mass release of unknown Joy Divison recordings or footages (Yeah I'm a dreamer)

It would have been nice if they had given this site a mention - it still is a valuable font of information.

Isn't the Plan K footage the same footage that is used in the "Here Are The Young Men" opening titles?

The quality of the interview has been dramatically improved. I would of thought they could of at least got the year right though.

The bit that I thought was from Twenty Four Hours looks to me now like it's from Wilderness but I'm certain that the rest is different from the opening of Here Are the Young Men as on that, Ian keeps disappearing behind the pillar and the bass drum isn't visible whereas he's out of the way of the pillar in this footage and the bass drum is visible...

...maybe I should get out a bit more?

It's from Wilderness, the HATYM bit was mainly from Atrocity Exhibition.

The part where Ian's singing into the microphone is from Wilderness but the part before that with Ian dancing next to Hooky isn't, or at least isn't from the section used in the documentary, nor is it the same as that used at the start of the titles for Here Are the Young Men (which was from Shadowplay, while the later section in the titles was from Atrocity Exhibition)

Interesting to me that only now are they making an official website. I wonder why. Is Peter running it?

I should also point out that the videos are unlisted when you visit the "Video" section of the channel. Only through the website can you get those links.

Yep they where the ones that did the twitter account so obviously they're the ones behind this website (So without any Hook's involvement)

I found the site a few days ago... I must say I don't like it at all... doesn't like like Joy Division! a trendy Wordpress template shouldn't be the best option I think.

I don't what can be better at the same time.
Maybe a "full white" website could be the best option.
But no website at all is great though.

If I were the one managing a JD site, an official one like this, I'd ask for his work for sure

In fact - Side A stops before the end of "Colony" and Side B stops before the end of "Decades".

They haven't got the hang of streaming methinks.

That's bullshit! But really... If someone wants to listen to JD in streaming, they better go look for the one with the FULL songs in one video on youtube. Who's gonna use thier shit anyway ?

Yeah...Not a big fan of the page as it is. Peter tweeted about it on launch and said it should be avoided.

From what he said I gathered that none of the band members were asked for their opinions or included. Here is a quote of the tweet I saw:
"After 8yrs of asking Warner Bros finally do 'Official' Joy Div site shame they didn't include band in development/layout! Urge you to ignore"
