As I live in Los Angeles I could've caught that KXLU broadcast

But to be honest, I don't live near enough to the station to pick it up well (and I'm sure no one would want a live stream copy) and as it is, I heard about the Part-Time Punks thing a couple of days too late anyway

Still don't understand why after all these years ol' Bernard won't just broadcast the whole thing through and keep his gob shut during it

Who's got the right of Brussels 79 video? When we fans will be able to put our hands on it?

If by that you mean the Plan K video, 'Joy Division' have it.

I got this from Brian Nicholson:

Hello

Thanks for you comments on the old Ikon videos. The Plan K footage is now with Joy Dvision and is being shown in Macclesfield on Aug 1st

http://www.joydivisionexhibition.com/events.php

I may be there..... hope they play it loud.

Brian Nicholson.... btw the Liasons video was Malcolm Whiteheads favourite release.

(I'd mentioned to him that I still had quite a few of the IKON FCL VHS tapes, and particularly loved the Liasons Dangereuses one.)

Vince, you did a brilliant job on this project; really. It sounds as thou you remastered it as well? The last track "Warsaw" sounds amazing, much better then the version found on the upgrade. Anyways thanks again Vince, and thanks to everyone who played a part in his project................cheers

Hi,

it seemed that for the first time on TTD, they will be banning a concert, the 2010 radiobroadcast. Fine, i will ask Chris to torrent the NMC add-ons version on TTD too.
The 2010 broadcast is still available on the Autosuggestion Darkman blog.

Hello darkman,

I've just chequed your blog. Just two remarks: I bought the "Try to Cure yourself"-boot in 1985 in Germany, but my cover is yellow, not red.

The soundcheck of the lyceum-concert was available 2 or 3 years before. I have a boot called "How many Echoes are there...", which I bought 1984 or 1985 in Cologne, Germany. It has the Lyceum Soundcheck on side a tracks 1-5, and the peel-sessions as tracks 6-13.

Hello Dirk

Thanks for checking out my blog. I have a lot of JD vinyl planned for the coming months. The high-light will be transfers of the JD 1st pressings.

Yeah, the "Try to Cure Yourself" LP came in two different colors; Red and Yellow. And some of them came with inserts, which are becoming very hard to come by. My copy is Yellow like yours and I was lucky enough to get an insert with mine. But they did come in "Red" as-well, the picture on my blog is the cover of a red one.

The Lyceum Ballroom Sound-Check came out on two LP's in the mid-80"s. The first, is the one you mention, "How Many Echoes are There", and the other the other LP was the one I have "Electric Funeral". But, the Sound-Check was available on two different LP's...........cheers

Kudos to all involved, but I have to ask ...

If this was from a "lossless FM broadcast", why are the files in crappy/lossy Windows Media Audio format?!? Where are the FLACs???

P.S. And where are Interzone and Warsaw?    Don't tell me ... Bernard broadcast yet another "incomplete" version

Hi,

i think you didn't read the previous 5 pages of nonsense ^_^

Okay the torrents are usually proposing FLAC files, and are of course lossless.
The other available versions are the streaming version and a lot of "digital satellite versions", which are all lossy.
The 2010 broadcast was taped by Viet (Interzone79 here on the board), and to date is the best and first available lossless version.

The band had a lot of technical difficulties on "Interzone", so it may explain why the song was not broadcast on every known radiobroadcasts (1979 [live], 1994, 2001, 2010). "Atrocity Exhibition" and "Warsaw" were broadcasted in the 80's, but no one is able to remember when. We only know 5 broadcasts (including the maybe incomplete one from the 80's).

All the french fans from the 80's i know were unable to confirm any other unknown broadcast... But this is doubtful that the complete gig was broadcasted as MJ said in his book (see the "Bains-Douches" entry on the website).

See You

Vince: I got a quick question for you:
How come you made the Add-On version fit better with the "official" NMC cd version instead of the 2010 "Ultimate" upgraded/remastered/reassembled version from the POIT blog site?
I tried to put the new tracks w/ the Ultimate version and even though it works well, the "new" tracks are a lot louder than the others.

I don't want to sound ungrateful, just curious.I'd rather listen to that 2010 version than the fucked up "official" release with these new songs added,ya know?

RiotNrrd, thanks for pointing that out; I thought that I provided WMAL, but I didn't. I use Windows 7 which has windows Media Player 12, which has WMA Lossless, and I didn't select it by mistake. I will update the files on my blog starting with the Les Bains Douches ones. Thanks again for pointing that out for me.................cheers

Hi,

the "NMC add-ons version" is a torrent provided to complete the official NMC CD. This is NOT an upgrade over it, as NO track from the NMC release are provided. This torrent includes ONLY the missing 7 tracks. The NMC release is now highly downgraded by the surfacing by Analog Loyalist in late 2009 of a DAT recording of the 1994 broadcast. Also the "complete" version (the "NMC add-ons" tracks + the NMC release) is not the longest version you can collect, as many of the NMC tracks are even incomplete (compared to the DAT version).

The "2010 radiobroadcast version" is the full 55 minutes radioshow of Lenoir broadcasted on May 18, 2010. Again this is NOT the ultimate / upgraded version of the Bains-Douches gig, as only 12 tracks were broadcasted, some even missing dead airs or short parts.

The complete (so far) Bains-Douches version is not provided on the net yet, but it will be in the future. First it can't be seeded on TTD or DIME (thanks to the f;;;ing NMC release !), second i'm fearing that labels like Godfather press it in the minute...
But you will be informed when i will change my mind ^_^
If i can't provide it on torrent sites (despite i will probably use Demonoid), Darkman or Analog Loyalist will do that for the community.

I hope that all is a bit more clear now.

See You

"Update"  I have updated both Paris recordings to WMA-Lossless. Sorry for the mix-up, but everything has been corrected. I will be updating the posts sourced from vinyl one by one in the coming days; I will make a notation that they have been upgraded with the information about the download. Enjoy……

Wow! What an incredible thread. So much dedication to the cause.

I'm just wondering if it is still possible to download this. I tried the link on the autosuggestion blog but I couldn't get it to work for me.

I recently got the "remastered" version of the Paradiso gig from the Power of Independent trucking. What with this and all the stuff on the Recycle project Joy Division fans are spoiled by the time and effort that some people put in.

Hats off to you!

I just checked the link, and it works just fine! There has been 30+ people who have download it since I reposted it in Lossless. Try it again. If you are still having problems, send me a Private Message and I will make sure you get it. Nobody should be left out when it comes to this recording......cheers

OK, I'm a little confused.  I just listened to a bit of the Part Time Punks' broadcast from the week following the KXLU Bains Douches broadcast and Michael from PTP specifically mentions Vince.

I thought PTP had some sort of exclusive from Bernard or something with him having blown the dust off the masters or something!  I'm guessing it was a patchwork broadcast of all the tracks using a Vince-compiled list of whatever sources were available to PTP for broadcasting.  So much for that.

Reading Vince's and Darkman's posts I'm even more confused now

Is there a way to put together a list of the tracks with an annotation of where the "best version" can be found as of [B]now[/I] (i.e. post-May 18th 2010 broadcast)?

Darkman, you said now you've converted to Windows Media Lossless.  I found another posting elsewhere wherein you list the lineage as

Denon T260L tuner > MPX filter of Teac V-3000 tape deck > Sony Compact Disc recorder RCD-W3 > CDRW > CDR > Soundforge 8 > dBpowerAMP Music Converter (FLAC 8 )

So it exists in FLAC yet you converted to WMA-L?

I never converted anything from flac! I was given copies, on CD, of the "NMC ADD-ON's" and the "2010 Full Broadcast", and then ripped these CD's to my computer as WMA-LOSSLESS, and then uploaded them to my Media-fire account as such, and then shared them! In my opinion, WMA-lOSSLESS is the same quality as flac; both are lossless! Some people use Flac and I use WMA-Lossless; not a big deal. Both sound the same! Again both are lossless!

As for the Part time punks broadcast, I already answered the question you are asking. This is what I wrote about that broadcast weeks ago, when the info was shared here about it.

Quote:
"Disorder", I can shed some light on that for you and everyone else here scratching their heads after reading that. I know of that broadcast and who provided it. It was a mix of the DAT from the 1994 rebroadcast and the true FM capture from the 2010 rebroadcast, along with "Warsaw" from the early 1980's broadcast. We(the fans) will have complete access to this recording very soon. Again I know the person who provided that recording to the 'Part Time Punks" program; that is how I know. Granted he never told me, exactly what was broadcast, but it's a very logically guess that the first 14 songs were of the highest quality (1994 & 2010 rebroadcast), and since there was only 16 songs played in that set, I would assume they wouldn't of included "interzone" from the audience recording, so "Warsaw" from the early 80's broadcast makes more sense. I hope this cleared things up for everyone. Again, we will all have access to this upgraded gig soon..................cheers

I stated above, that the 1994 broadcast and 2010 would be used to source that broadcast!

I never posted the lineage. Vince must of posted that info! Vince had posted the NMC add-ons and the full 2010 broadcast in FLAC on Dime I believe, but that has been taken down.

Vince answered that question already as well, in this thread. He is not releasing that best ever version right now. He is holding it back as of now. Here is what he said.

I hoped this cleared things up for you. Again, I'm not going to post anything on my blog in Flac; WMA-Lossless is just as good, and it is already installed in my computer. I'm not going to download a program that converts files to Flac, because I have listened to Flac and Wma-Lossless side-by-side and both sound the exact same to me.......................cheers

Bernard Lenoir is famous among Joy division fans in France for terminating the live broadcast on the night of the concert because he said it wasn't very good. It was a major upset for JD fans in France because in a pre mp3, pre-internet, pre -Eurotunnel age and before the group had been widely bootlegged it was many of the bands French fans first opportunity to hear the group live. To have a Parisian DJ cut the concert broadcast because of his own opinions did not go down well and some of my friends in Paris still haven't forgiven him. It may be one reason why Lenoir doesn't like to give the concert too many outings, many people have long memories and as the importance of the group and the concert has grown his actions on the night look a bit rash.

I don't know better than anyone else here but it occours to me that if Inter were recording the broadcast as opposed to the gig that would explain why they have an imcomplete copy/no master as alluded to in the Les Bains Douches section. In the same way the BBC broadcast Beatles broadcasts from bootlegs because thay had lost the tapes Lenoir may have subsequently had have access to a soundboard tape of the gig which has not seen the light of day on bootleg. I was told a while back in Paris that such a tape of the whole gig had surfaced but not been circulated.

Sounds more like infamous, kid992!  Great insight, thanks for posting that.  I totally agree with the sentiment, the first time I heard Bains Douches I thought "WTF is this DJ doing talking?!?".

And Darkman, if you're still listening, I apologize for any stupid assumptions I had made that you cleared up in the post immediately above kid992's

Hi,

with 15 of the 16 songs broadcasted yet, we can assume that the full pre-FM master exist ^_^
To date "Interzone" is the only missing song (with "radio quality"), and as the band messed up it live, it can explain why it was never broadcasted (yet).

See You

It's not a valid reason why it was never broadcast, some of the other songs have very bad overloaded bass. And Warsaw was done at one point.

There are some bad mistakes on some of the tracks on the Paradiso show, but that never stopped them from broadcasting that, or selling it.
