I paid EUR22.00 which includes postage, (at the current rate that's around £16.55) not bad, so how much will it cost you in the shops?

A credit card is an option, but not necessary as they will accept bank transfer, keeping the order open for 7 days.

I've just ordered a copy. The website is entirely in Norwegian though so I don't know if I've done it properly. I reckon the amount charged of 181 doesn't include international shipping...

So why is it out in Norway so soon?

Anyway, let us know when you receive your copies, Oyvind!

No idea why it's been released in Norway now. Apparently my copy was sent out yesterday, so we'll just have to wait and see when it arrives...

What an amazing documentary, saw it last night. Seeing the SLC footage, the rehearsal stuff for the first time, simply amazing. Plan K is really bad quality, makes the Apollo stuff look pro. Yes, still a must to have!

Received my copy of the DVD yesterday, and the documentary definitely delivers, really well directed, loads of great insight (even from the usual JD talking heads), well worth picking up.  The Plan K, TJ Davidson and What's On footage is great to see after all these years, another vain cry for this to be comprehensively packaged and released sooner rather than later.  I'd say the Plan K footage is on a par with the Apollo footage, better picture quality (in that it's actually in colour, whereas the Apollo video may as well be black and white), sound quality isn't fantastic, although it sounds much better when the guitar's in the mix - during the bass and drum breakdown of Wilderness the sound gets very bass-heavy.  Overall, if the band are happy to release the Apollo video, I don't see how they could object to the quality of the Plan K footage.

Poignant final words from AHW, which I won't spoil for those who have yet to see it.

Got my copy too! After seeing so many "still" photographs of the young men for so long, it's fantastic to finally be able to see them moving about (a bit). Obviously, the excerpts used leave me wanting to see and hear more of the band footage in rehearsal and performance, but it's a great start. And Brett is right: the Plan K recording, while definitely not hi-fi, isn't nearly as bad as we've been led to believe. Anyone familiar with less than stellar bootleg recordings knows how quickly eyes and/or ears adjust to what's there when one is really keen. On the other hand, more might be gained if a new upstream copy (i.e., of lower generation) could be unearthed (for what it's worth, the filmer's name appears to have been retrieved).

I definitely want to see the film a few times more before judging it on its documentary merits. One section that had me laughing out loud is when the band members are reminiscing about the Buzzcocks tour; this has been handled very well by Grant Gee, I thought. The part about Sordide Sentimental is also great. An issue that still hasn't received the full attention it deserves is the band's approach to songwriting and live performance (e.g., their penchant for developing new compositions on the concert stage), but occasionally this point is duly brought up, so kudos for that, too!

One last thought for now: the glimpse of the passage in Rob Gretton's notebooks where he expounds his views on major tours with the band, is just one more argument (if it were still needed) in favour of a fully annotated publication of those notebooks. They seem to be crucial for a proper understanding of the band's history.

So, with a bunch of us picking up all the copies that have come out in Norway in the past fortnight, what are the chances of the DVD entering the Norwegian charts with a bullet?

According to VG (the largest newspaper in Norway) the DVD is now number 4 on the list Most Sold Music DVD's!

with these latest orders we'll get it to Number 1!

Incidentally - a great band from Oslo who I wholeheartedly recommend - Je Suis Animal!

The short section of Plan K footage used on the documentary, "Wilderness", is the best quality as it stands, in terms of camera position/visibility, and has been sonically enhanced as well. It's tempting to think that all the footage is like this. It isn't. The sum total is actually very tiring to watch and for this reason Grant Gee and Jon Savage adopted the principle of "less is more".

The footage should be released at some stage but not for a while yet. Great efforts have and are being made to find an enhanced audio source for the gig but nothing has turned up so far... So this is I suppose another appeal to that effect.

Many thanks for these clarifications. I had already guessed myself that that particular part of Wilderness was used because it's less racket than, say, the finale to Atrocity Exhibition. Still, with all respect for the principle adopted by GG and JS, I think it's also safe to say that most of the historical footage is being held back in view of at least one more DVD-release concentrating on the music (the What's On-excerpt in particular is frustratingly short and I would have loved to hear more of the soundtrack to the rehearsal film). That's sound marketing reasoning, no doubt.

With that last sentence, are you suggesting that an audience recording of the gig is rumoured to exist?
