His mark 7 post is the 5th take; not the 4th one used on the single

OK - I'm getting a bit confused now...sounds like the 'Mark 7' version is the same as on H&S, but full length? Meaning that the RSD version still hasn't been uploaded yet? And that there are 3 other versions still unheard?

Blimey...30 years on and we're still getting to hear things for the first time.

Yes the "Mark 7" version  he uploaded is the complete take from H&S,(5th take) but it's in stereo. So yes the tape 4th take, used on the single has not been upload.

Yes the other 3 versions have not been released; but the way things are progressing you never know.

To be perfectly honest, I'm happy with version that was present on the 12" release. I'd rather not be relying on him for any new JD releases.

Neverthelesss, Darkman, if I follow what you say correctly:
1st take: Unreleased.
2nd take: Unreleased.
3rd take: Unreleased.
4th take: Release on Record Day 12"
5th take: First two verses released on H&S, complete version released by this youtuber.

Is this correct?

Even better to have all 5 versions of the song to listen to!

Does seem strange how our YouTube 'friend' managed to get hold of the 5th version two weeks after the 4th version was released...

Even though still waiting to get my paws on the now infamous IALP take 4  it's good to finally hear the complete take 5, although it's a pity it's through this moron's youtube channel.  And while were on the subject what actually was the real story behind the cut off on take 5's H&S debut and how after all this time did this freak manage to lay his greasy hands on it???

OK so I'm checking out this YT vid of the "take #5" version...at the beginning of the vid he's got "IALP APRIL 1980"...so does this mean the session was really April and NOT May as previously thought??Does he have any credible evidence to back this up?
Where does this place the Ceremony rehearsal then?BEFORE or AFTER this studio demo for IALP?Argh..the mystery deepens!

On a forum seeking further information about anything to do with Joy Division I doubt whether
calling someone names and making other disparaging remarks will encorauge them to contribute the source and provence of any material they might have come to possess. It certainly hasn't worked in the past

This should end the speculation.

Take 1 is from March
Take 2 is from April
Take 3 - 5 are from May

He posted a new rehearsal of IALP. It's ten minutes long, quite the listen!

Can anyone shed some light on the lyrics?

Very interesting version indeed, given what Darkman has told us, I'd guess it's the March or April version?

It would only end the speculation if it were true.

They never used to take three months to knock something into shape, it would also have been played live at some point. All those rehearsals are most likely end of April/early May, possibly all done within the space of a week or so.

I will happily call the YooToob'er an ass because that's what he is. I don't care if it 'scares him off' in revealing the provenance of these, because they are my masterings of material which I received in confidence to work on, and my mastered versions were only given to a handful of people leading up to the RSD release. These versions would have eventually come out anyway, but not via this douchebag who has nothing but insults to give.

Bring it on. And I refuse for this d'bag to take credit for material I worked my butt off in mastering.

Now I feel guilty for listening to what he's posted, knowing that these were in the pipeline for an official release at some point.

Either way, it's most likely wrong, they're too similar in sound to be three months apart. The band worked quick, they're more likely days apart.

Fair enough. I'm just going off what I was told by (someone who I completely trust with all things JD related). You might be right!

Those supposed recording dates were just reasoned speculation. Since nobody has (that I am aware of, of course) the actual known, confirmed "Misplaced" demo from March 80, it was postulated that the earliest draft of what became IALP was that song. Nobody knows for certain and it's equally plausible Truth speaks the, err, truth.

So, drew, are these versions completely finished, or are they still being worked on?
