I'd be wary of forking out for something that wasn't as described, not that I can afford the prices.

Lot.212 lists a live tape as Factory 11.5.79 with the setlist as officially released 13.7.79.  How would you stand legally say if you bought some JD rehearsal tapes and it turned out to be another local band or worse still, a Revenge soundcheck?

Chimes used on Atmosphere for £500 too, bargain.

Hi,

direct link for the online auction listing...

https://bid.omegaauctions.co.uk/m/view-auctions/catalog/id/34?page=1

1) i noticed many typos and errors in the descriptions, which is strange (if not unacceptable) for an auction house said to be used to deal with music memorabilia...

2) i'm used to bid on various auction houses all over the world, and it is the first time that i saw that 100 gbp will be taken from the credit card of each internet live bidder (to be refunded if no lot is won) !
This is plain ridiculous for such "low value" memorabilia... And trust me, i registered, bidded and won far far more expensive items from far far more known auction houses...

3) i clearly doubt that there is any unreleased Joy Division track...

See You

Vince

It was great to see all this in a touching distance (no pun intended) and naturally i got my catalogue these ans had it signed by Hooky and yes i was pretentious enough to let hin write the important " to Al ..." just like a Justin Bieber Fan ...
Even had e few seconds to talk to him and ask why on earth he was parting with all of this.
He replied that time had to go on ... so i kind of bullied him with the allegation he was selling because the "misses" wants it out of the house, That must have touched a nerve because he laughed out lound and told "You bloody got me, mate."
Nice guy

Thanks for putting the effort in to put these shots on the board. I'm looking forward to seeing the real thing on show at Omega in a few weeks.

I got the catalogue too - lots of interesting looking stuff but nothing jumped out at me as holy grail in terms of unreleased music. Have I missed something?

Well, if you read and (above all) believe what hooky has written down regarding the Tapes and Cassettes/CD-Rs, there is (or could) be that mentioned "heavy metal" version of UP, which i would love to hear.
And there could be more Rehearsals than we know and maybe some live-stuff, i would not expect lost real unknown songs.
Anyways, it is futile to think about it, unless you are really rich, or part of the bootleg-producing bunch.
You will have to spend something like 1500 GBP to get a tape, but have no garanty it is really good ...

But i hope to be able to buy some new "Fanclub" LPs later in Utrecht

Latest news about this auction (via an email):

"We unfortunately have to inform you that the following lots have been withdrawn from the sale:
Lot 8 - the guitar books
Lots 145, 146, 147, 148, 149, 150, 155, 156, 157, 204, and 205 (various reel to reel tapes and DVD recordings.
Lot 210 (the Warsaw Middlesborough cassette has been removed from the lot)
Lot 159 - Ian Curtis and Annik letters

We apologise for the late notice and any disappointment, however with the exception of lots 159, the withdrawals are outside of the ours and Peter's control."

Looks like Barney and or Steve may have objected to the tapes being sold etc.

I can't recall what the "guitar books" are and I don't have the catalogue to hand. Maybe these are the books him and Bernard learned guitar/bass from.

As regards the very personal "lot 159", looks like Peter had a change of heart.
I'm very glad. Selling something so personal to the highest bidder seemed... well, you know...
He's done the right thing, I feel.

We can only speculate on why the other items got pulled, but I can't say I would blame Messrs Sumner and Morris, if they are the ones responsible.
It seems a little like Hooky is selling items that are part of the fabric / history of the band. It must get up their noses a bit.
I remember a similar thing with Depeche Mode, where Alan Wilder, a few years after leaving the band, sold a load of his equipment which had DM samples / sounds / backing tracks etc. stored on them. That didn't go down well either.

All of this selling of such cherished items seems a little like 'cutting one's nose off to spite one’s face'. Much like burning photos of your ex.

According to the catalogue the guitar books belonged to Barney.

That would presumably be the reason for the withdrawal then.
Barney must have put a stop to that particular ‘lot’ then.
I must say, I think I would’ve done the same.

Can’t say I agree.

Music Complete was wonderful.

Don’t get me wrong, I loved Hooky’s massive contribution to the legacy of the band but, no... I’m loving them at the moment.

Gillian is the heart and soul of the band, in my opinion. A stabilising influence. Get Ready and WFTSC, both recorded without her, were quite patchy.
It’s no coincidence that, since she’s come back, they’ve released their best LP since Technique.

Of course, theoretically, I would love all four of them back in the band. Given everything that Peter has said (some of it quite horrible, it has to be said), I can’t see that that’s very likely though.
