My gut feel is that it looks like a mid 80's copy ...not an original

you are right:

This is his answer to my question:
" hello,
it's not the original printed on thin newspaper-style paper... that one, if found sold recently for 340 & 500 GBP...
it is the first reprint from 1982 or 1983.
good luck should you want to place a bid...
thanks for your question!

DMXI - I had that poster on my bedsit wall circa 1989 / 1990 .... again another mass pressed copy from the late 80's / early 90's ... not worth more than a fiver IMO

...very crafty item description,though... a shady illusionary hint that they 'could-be' OG's,hence the high bidding.

Exactly!

"Item bought in the Eighties" ...... yeah, 1989 most probably  lol

Used to see these at record fairs from '84/'85 onwards ..... along with good quality colour prints of sleeves from Atmosphere (12"), LWTUA (12"), Closer, Transmission (back of 7" sleeve), Ideal for Living 12", etc.

In fact' the 'Ideal for Living' 12" design poster crops up alot ... with people trying to pass it off as an original poster from '78 ..... but as we know they never did any back in '78

Yeah, the cheek of these people. I had the lot plastering the mildewed walls of my 'studio', including the much-reproduced 'Ian with head in hands' photo taken by Anton Corbijn at TJ Davidson's during the LWTUA video shoot; always made me laugh with its pompous and woefully inaccurate caption of 'Ian Curtis - London - 1980'. Oh, then there was that massive full-length 'Here Are The Young Men' one from the Kevin Cummins session in Stockport; it wouldn't stay up with Blu-Tack or Sellotape, you had to use a nail and a pair of those plastic grip things and even then the bloody thing kept falling down and rolling itself up, usually in the middle of the night. In the finish I left the bastard on the deck; Steve Morris' toothy grin had always unnerved me anyway.

Hello,

some days ago I've jumped into a Plan K (January '80) poster that was on sale at a record fair in Bruxelles.

The guy asked 50€ for that, I didn't enter into any negotiation, but when I asked about the number of copies he had, he told me "oh well, 2 or 3" so then I thought it was better to leave it.

My guess is that those days they did not print that so many copies for such kind of concert, but would you please tell me about how to find out if it's an original version?

I bet the guy'll still have one or two copies at the next record fair...
