I watched six week of highlights of the seventies So It Goes tv series hosted by Tony Wilson. It was shown on Sky Arts 1 and had a John Cooper Clarke voiceover.
Much of the best material had appeared before in a documentary on channel four shown to commemorate ten years since punk, called the Way They Were, back in the eighties
Footage which I had never seen before was generally disappointing.
What was even more disappointing was that Shadowplay was not included! Who the heck would pick six episodes of highlights and not include that!
No doubt everyone was delighted they didn't miss out Johnny Kidd and the Pirates or Muddy Waters though!

The biggest crime is that they apparently wiped the original 6-7 minutes of footage filmed of the Sex Pistols first performance on UK TV in Spetember '76 .... the 3 mins or so of 'Anarchy in the UK' that was broadcast was edited down from this.

They managed to make it look like So It Goes was all punk, it really wasn't.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/So_It_Goes_%28TV_series%29

Hang on though. Show 9, series 2. Presented with help from Mathew Corbett, Sooty and Sweep. I always thought Sweep was a bit punk

What's the story with Iggy Pop and sweaing then. It wasn't live was it so how did that happen. Pity it was cancelled though as surely a third series would have seen some professionally recorded live JD footage. Still enjoy Neon Shuffle by XTC and Alan Partridge, sorry Andy Partridge mugging to the camera.
