Between 2:40 and 2:51 there is really a rough 9 seconds of TJ Davidsons with someone grabbing a guitar on the right side of the screen, if you slow it right down, then one or two seconds someone alone, it seems.  If anyone knows where this is footage is from, and if there is there a cleaner, less grainy version, that would be interesting to see. This has likely been discussed before, so I apologise for not finding it.

It's from this film (and it's not in circulation).

I heard that at least two copies of this film are exist:
The first copy owned by Neil Woodvine.
The second copy own JD's fan from Germany or Netherlands... Malcom sent him a copy (or original film?) after his request. He showed it in 80's(?)

This, of course, is unconfirmed information.

I will ask a silly question... did Malcolm die, because Neil has the movie now ? Who currently has the rights to the movie ?

I believe that Malcolm still alive and well at the same time Neil died a few years ago (RIP, Neil)
I guess Malcom have a rights to his movie [biggrin]

Judging by the quality of the fragments used in Grant Gee movie - master film didn't lost and looks amazing, compared with "Substance" VHS... and JD's official channel on YouTube.

Real shame that the full movie has never been released in some format after all this time

Similar to the Plan K footage ... 38 years on from when it was filmed ... the opportunity for commercial gain has long passed, but its still of considerable interest to fans

I don't believe that "they" can make money on this NOW. They definitely missed the moment. This could generate revenue if they included Whitehead's film, Apollo, Plan K, Effenaar & all TV's footages on 2nd 'Live DVD' as "Deluxe" version of Grant Gee doc movie or something like.
The only way out is to get at least some money now - just put it on YouTube and earn a penny with advertising...

It looks like him and is at the start of his 'interview' in the original film, so probably.

Cheers Truth

I still have an old cassette somewhere in the loft with quite muffled audio (which is difficult to fully understand) of his interview from the film ... which i presume probably came from one of the 'Video Circus' night in autumn 81 - as opposed to the original showing at the Scala in 79 ?

I reckon so, you can see he's wearing glasses.
