The observer had a bit about joy division in a magazine today. The best 25 gigs of all time. The moonlight club, london 1980, the third and final night of a factory records showcase.Written by sean o'hagan who was present that night, and now a writer for the observer. __________________ stuart |

| #2 | I read that, too. Made me even more annoyed with myself that I decided not to go that night with my mate. Still, I got to play there a couple of times a few years years later when it changed its name to The Cavalier Club

It's great for the writer that he actually got a chance to see the band play live, and I'm well prepared to believe that the performance made a big impression on him, but if he really did nominate that gig as being one of the best 25 gigs of all time, it looks to me like he's desperate to earn himself a tiny place in the myth surrounding the band. After all, they barely managed to finish 5 songs with all four members, after which Ian had to be taken backstage and the concert was cut short (the remaining three playing Interzone and then calling it a day - also because it was close to closing time)!? |

I'm sure that there were better joy division concerts than this one to be honest, but knowing which one to put down as the best would be quite a task. __________________ stuart |

The 3rd night at the Moonlight probably wasn't one of the best 25 Joy Division gigs of all time! |

| #7 | Yeah, as Littleboy says, it's a prime example of a journallist seeking self justification, via a (forgive me) "trendy" band, that he happened to see. __________________ "When you love someone, it's natural, not demanding" - Shalamar |

| #8 | I think you're all missing the point, he could hardly write about a gig he wasn't at. It was HIS top gig, not JD's. |

| #9 | Yes we know that, but it could hardly be classed as one of the best 25 gigs of all time, which was the basis of the article, not "my favourite gig"!! |
