| #1 | Who gave a more accurate depiction of Ian Curtis? Sam Riley or Sean Harris? What were the pros and cons of each film?
I've made a video with clips from both films depicting similar scenes.

I would definitely have to say Sam Riley. I thoroughly enjoyed his protrayal of Ian Curtis and though they sounded very close to JD! I loved the Control movie - it's one of my favs. |

| #3 | I would have to say Sam Riley because he was able to dig a little deeper. Personally, I felt 24 Hour Party People is more about Tony Wilson. Plus it really dealt with Joy Division with a little bit more humor. |

| #4 | Without shadow of a doubt, Sam Riley's performance of Ian Curtis was far superior than that of Sean Harris' performance in 24 Hour Party People. I think Riley did Ian justice. I know when I watched Control, I was mesmerized by how close Sam Riley was to Ian Curtis.
I'm not knocking Sean Harris as an actor, but I personally thought he was an odd choice to play Ian. |

| #5 | 24 Hour Party People is a purposefully ridiculous film, including the characters. I really can't decide who was better because Sam Riley portrayed Ian with great care, while Sean Harris was just doing his job to portray him as a way over-the-top caricature. I thought he did what he was supposed to do, I mean that movie was just plain bizarre. __________________ Deb |

| #6 | You make an interesting point there.
I should imagine it all boils down to what the individual motive is for watching either of the films. I watched 'Control' for the portrayal of IC and the rest of JD etc., but I watched '24 Hour Party People' for Coogan's portrayal of Tony Wilson. I know I'm preaching to the already converted on here, but for anyone else I wouldn't recommend 24HPP unless they watching it for non JD related reasons.
Sean Harris is a great actor, I mean no disrespect to him, but I just found him to be a really strange choice to play Curtis; he was far too old for the role for starters. |

Sean Harris as Ian in 24 Hour Party People was not even close, at all. Annik said after watching 24 hour party people, "she didn't even recognizes Ian's character". __________________ "We Knocked on the doors of Hell's darker chamber, Pushed to the limit, We dragged ourselves in". |
