Bernard Sumner's new band Bad Lieutenant will play songs from his past groups on tour, PS can reveal.
The trio tour next month, and Sumner told PS: "There'll be New Order and Joy Division songs, maybe Electronic too."
He added: "We're only on our first album, so we don't have enough songs for a long gig without putting some old classics in there. We love rehearsals - we could play for seven hours!" __________________ "You need people like me. You need people like me so you can point your fuckin' fingers and say, 'That's the bad guy.' What's The Ritz like in Manchester? Anyone been there before? The only problem with Standing gigs, due to my bastard MS, I can't stand for more than 5 minitues without collapsing. Would there be a place to sit on the floor at the back? |

| #6 | There's a small upstairs part in the Ritz, with a bar and balcony, I think there may even be a few chairs up there but if you get there early enough it's a more comfortable place to be than downstairs. __________________ "You need people like me. | #8 | If you asked for a chair and a place on the balcony and explained your problems they'd probably sort you out, no problem. __________________ "You need people like me. | #14 | They were well smart last night in Manchester, a decent turn-out too. Got a nice place on the balcony, thanks for the advice S.B.
The first half of the gig was a little lame compared to the 2nd. Not awful, just new songs.
The 2nd half was awesome. The 1st non BL song they played was Crystal, shame the bass was a little quiet in the mix.
The other non BL songs they played were....
Out of Control - Chemical Brothers collaboration Tighten Up - Electronic Temptation - New Order
They left the stage, then did an encore un-New Order style.
They did an accoustic version of Bizarre Love Triangle, with a great backing from the crowd. A meaty Transmission, then a poppy sounding LWTUA.
All in all a very nice night. Bernard was in a very chatty mood which was nice. I liked it when after he played one BL song, and said something like "fuckin hell, I'm out of breath, what an annoying song" |

| #17 | Yeah I'd concur with your comments Dawn. First half mediocre, but then again, I've not actually bought the new LP. Really picked up with Crystal and from then on it was worth every penny. Don't get me wrong, it was good, just seemed to lack a certain (bass) power. Spotted some Manchester names there too, a couple of Roses and a smattering of Mondays.
On the way back to the car we were discussing our thoughts with a couple of strangers and I suggested that perhaps they should have played Dead Souls, then again....
" ...and Conquistadors who took their share.... YEEEEEAAAAAAHHHH!"
Hmm, maybe not. __________________ The train now standing on platform four |
